Note on dallinga speech: Ayelakhaian sahash, the dallinga, speak in vild, but complement their speech by touching their horns or tilting their heads. Humans have adopted some of these gestures, so in Ayelakhai the meaning of a phrase often depends not only on the words, but also on how the speaker turns their head and touches their invisible horns.
Vildomeahd, or “serpent script,” came to Ayelakhai from Vaestilfer in ancient times. Here it was expanded and refined so that every stroke could convey the nuances of the tone embedded in the text. Laws, oaths, funeral records, factory dreams, and family documents are written with special care: an error in a stroke or a missing sign is considered a crime against meaning. In everyday life, Ayelakhaians write in vild.
