It is one of the ancient countries of Pracia, that appeared as a result of El-Balyama empire expansion.

Beyleria takes place in a valley between mountains, surrounded by rivers and mighty, swamped forests. If you go east, to Nouri, you'll notice that land goes up and up, into the mountains. These lands are rough, furious hurricanes rage in-between the mountains, and any mortal who dares to climb these mountains will encounter life-threatening challenges, unless he carries a boulder on his back, while the fog is so dense, that anyone who decides to go there will have to tie himself with his partner to not get lost.

All the life flourishes down there, in the valley. Beyleria is a country of rivers and lakes, if you take a look at them, you'll see that they're shimmering with different, colorful sails that belong to merchant and fishing ships. Swamps are completely unpassable, no sujidaro and no horse is able to go through them, this is why beylerians use koyik moose whose legs are adapted to walking on swamps.

Beylerian folk houses are built close to each other, standing on strong piles, and mostly take place on numerous beaches. People who live in them have enough meat, seafood, and various berries for the whole year.

No one fishes or dives there during winter, in this season large schools of luri fish swim down the river to spawn, that's why under-ice hunt becomes dangerous.

Luri is a giant, predator fish known for its strength and hunger. If you're lucky enough to not get bitten to death, then you'll for sure get carried away under the ice by the stream of fish, without a chance of getting out, obviously.

The scariest time for beylerian folk comes after the luri spawn, and it’s called a “descend of the fog”. When the fog comes down from mountains everybody whose village or city got into it barricades the doors shut, and boards the windows. This fog conceals invisible creatures that crawl out during these times, hunting for food. Folk usually spends something around three weeks in these “bunkers” waiting for the fog to disappear, and during these days all they have is their food supplies and fainting electrical light. Some villages have underground and underwater passages that connect them together.

Some volunteers are chosen to patrol the village and scare the fog monsters away with flares. If creatures manage to come too close the warriors will have to fight, but what are their chances to survive in a fight with an invisible enemy?

Orzins, Karchigas and Saeskans

Eagles, Hawks and Magpies

Aeksai (which translates to vild as king-paladin) honors orzins with land in exchange for administrative service, after this their mission is to populate, and refine these lands. This is a difficult, but honorable job, considering these lands come in their hands in quite a poor condition. They have to drain swamps, scare wild animals away, gather settlers, establish trade routes and get a lot of other work done. There are some nice lands in Beyleria, of course, but they have been inhabited long time ago, and now they’re full of cities and villages.

To live in orzi you have to pay a big tax, most of which part goes to the government. Not everyone has the money to pay the tax, so some try to get money in some not really legal ways… Many people in Beyleria do that. Orzin’s mission is to prevent violation of the law, and in order to do that he gathers his squad of Karchigas (Hawks) who are basically local police. Hawks don’t really care much about those who has chosen the life of an outlaw, so they tend to kill such people on sight. There is no place for such scum in orzi if they don’t want to pay. Either work, or don’t occupy other’s land.

Fearing the Hawks people join the opportunist guild named Saeskans (Magpies). This “job” in difference with previous one is more or less legal, however, there’s no 100% legal job in Beyleria. Money there can either flow in your pocket, or absolutely avoid you.

They’re in good relations with Hawks, since Magpies often help the police, complete bounty contracts and deal with more personal stuff, which helps them to pay their debt. As long as Magpies don’t violate laws of their country, which means not killing or robbing their fellow citizens — their business is more than welcome, the only thing that matters is that the money still goes to the aeksai treasury.

Legend-Magpies more than just welcome in their country, they’re loved by many people including the Monarch. They’re local celebrities surrounded by tons of fans, so they can often be seen in the magazines and billboards.

About Beylerians

Those with the money to move emigrate to other countries, mainly to Latori or El-Balyama. But Beylerians have a strong national spirit, so to emigrate they will need not only money but also an open worldview, which they practically do not possess from birth.

Beylerians love their country in their own way, and are proud of its inhospitability, savagery and rebellion. Fighting - with enemies, creatures from the fog, swamps, bears, and lynxes - is something they are used to. Of all Shanglanian people, they are the most rigid and intolerant towards strangers.

However, such devotion to one's roots has its advantages. Beyleria's culture has remained almost unchanged since Pratian times. Every second person here knows the old language, Kenagh, and prefers it to Vildomead, although Vildomead is also easy to learn for them.

If a stranger endures the unfriendliness of the locals and earns at least their minimal trust, they'll be able to observe the 'oyuuns' (shamans) perform ancient rituals and folk song concerts. They can even be allowed to visit pubs where storytellers perform. Despite the need for knowledge of a Kenagh to comprehend the story, it's possible to simply observe the colorful performance and enjoy it.
