Legends of Ayelahai often feature the praying mantises as a source of evil, destructive powers in mortals.
Witch Fuko is one of the most widely known characters, possessing the spell of a praying mantis. She was able to curse one with misfortunes with no more than a glance, as well as foretell natural disasters.
The witch had one more notable feature. The wild wyverns would humbly bow their heads in her regard, predators avoided her presence, and thorn bush did not hurt her body. In her entire life, Fuko never shed a single drop of blood.
After she died, a few volunteers were brave enough to commit her body to fire. The second the flames touched her flesh, she turned into a huge liquid monster with three heads, uttered a few phrases in an incomprehensible language and then exploded, dousing everyone with her black blood.
